Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Field Tech Ops to provide field support for installation, maintenance, and repair of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) deployed throughout Rwanda. This role involves working independently in the field while coordinating with our engineering team to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our BESS installations.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, and maintain BESS units at various sites across Rwanda
Perform routine preventive maintenance and scheduled service visits to BESS installations
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in deployed BESS systems using diagnostic equipment
Execute repairs and replacement of components as needed to restore system functionality
Verify proper operation of protection systems, inverters, battery management systems, and auxiliary equipment
Document all field activities, maintenance results, and system performance data
Adhere to safety protocols for high-voltage systems and promote safety practices on site
Provide technical support and basic training to local staff and end-users
Coordinate logistics for spare parts and equipment transportation to remote sites
Submit detailed field reports and communicate status updates to project management
Requirements/Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related technical field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in field service of electrical power systems or renewable energy installations
Demonstrated experience with battery energy storage systems, inverters, and power electronics
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for electrical troubleshooting
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals
Valid Class B driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Rwanda
Basic knowledge of data logging and remote monitoring systems
Experience working in Rwanda or similar environments in East Africa is highly desirable
Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English required; knowledge of French is a plus
